The first class will be on March 17th at the Cherry Hills Library in the Northeast Heights of Albuquerque, NM. We will meet from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon! This class if for homeschoolers, although if any others want to attend, please contact me to make arrangements.
The inkle loom is a simple tool used to create a variety of woven trim for clothing
or any variety of purposes. Although the inkle loom used here is not a "period"
loom, the weaving produced is identical to that found in the Medieval era.
Here is a photo of an inkle loom that I recently made and sold on an action site.
Class participants will be able to use a loom similar to this one to learn how to weave
a basic pattern. Looms will be available for purchase at the class if interested. All
materials and supplies will be provided.
If there is significant interest outside of the Albuqueque area, please let me know . . . I will be glad to travel
to other parts of the state if there are enough students to justify the drive.

April - Chainmail
Although not weaving in the same sense as using a loom, assembling the rings of a piece of chainmail is often referred to
as "weaving mail". Chainmail was used throughout the Medieval era in both Europe and Asia. Although the focus of this
class will be on the European chainmail patterns, we will also discuss those attributed to Japan and China.
Here is a photo of my son wearing a chainmail "coif" which I made from 12 gauge galvanized steel wire.
Class participants will be learn the basics of weaving chainmail. All tools and materials will be provided. Class size
will be limited to 10. Exact dates and location in the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area have yet to be determined. We will hold multiple classes if there is enough interest.
If there is significant interest outside of the Albuqueque area, please let me know . . . I will be glad to travel
to other parts of the state if there are enough students to justify the drive.
